LOSCH DESIGNS LLC – Unique-Custom-Portrait-Wooling, is a new way to see Fine Art.  I use my ability to draw with graphite pencil and combine it with my love of wool. With my ability to see complex shading and colour, I interpret my subjects visual representation and create  framed portraits of family, friends, pets, animals or pictures of things you hold dear.

All my work is handmade from start to finish. My wool art ( or "Wooling" as I call them ) are true knittings, and not crochet, needle point or cross stitch.  Color changes are made as the knit progresses and not "added later."  This is an original art style and I have not seen it duplicated anywhere in the world.

Before I can begin knitting,  I must first complete a lengthy charting and coding process that charts the position and colour for about 72,000 individual stitches, or even more, depending on the size of the work.!    The chart is where the character and beauty of the "Wooling" is born and I will not rush  this process.   For that reason I require a minimum of 2 months for each commission for a standard size (19" X 22") piece of work.

The finished Wooling is worth the wait, and you will receive an exclusive and unique wall hanging.

I also accept commissions for graphite drawings of all subject matters.  While protraits of people and pets are my normal work, I have produced graphites of ships, planes and other "out of the ordinary" subjects.

The Artist

I first started graphite drawing when I was about five years old while living in Luxembourg and then continued when my family moved to England.  I combined my love of wool and drawing in 1987 to create the wool wall hangings I now call "Woolings."

I am a member of The Knitting Guild Association, and I am a contributing artist in both wool and graphite for Fan Art Review.  My work has been recognized, won awards and has raised money for charity:

My "Michael Jackson" cardigan received a letter and personally signed photographs from Casey Kasem and Michael Jackson.

Terry Wogan and “The Children in Need’ UK charity, of which in the1990 phone auction in the United Kingdom, my donated garment, a hand drawn, hand knitted open front cardigan, was purchased for £1000.00. (equivalent to $1700.00 in 1990) for this highly respected charity

I have won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize ribbons at The Lane County and The Oregon State Fair for both my Woolings and my graphite drawings.  I have received "recognized" and "all time best" ratings from artist peers at Fan Art Review.
